WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

INDOOR COMPOSTING WITH A WORMBIN: Vermicomposting with red worms is an efficient way to compost indoors. Worms will eat your kitchen scraps, converting your organic waste into compost for your plants. Participants in this workshop receive a plastic worm bin, one pound of red wriggler worms, and a copy of the book Worms Eat My Garbage.

COMPOSTING IN THE CITY or BACKYARD COMPOSTING: Leaves, kitchen scraps, garden trimmings, and weeds can all become "garden gold" through composting. Making dark, rich, and crumbly compost from raw organic materials doesn't take much time, work, or space. You'll use less water and fertilizer, and avoid trips to the garden center for costly top soil and peat moss. This class covers the essentials: what the composting process is, how to compost even in small city gardens, how to use finished compost, how to avoid and solve problems, and which equipment and tools are helpful.
